San Francisco - USA

During my two weeks road trip with my Swiss friends, we went in San Francisco, which was our last destination together by the way.

What can we visit in San Francisco?

Fisherman’s Wharf

This place is located near the port and it is a nice place to walk around, also eat fish for people who like it. There you can go on "Pier 39", you'll find some souvenirs shops and the ambience is nice.

Golden Gate Bridge

That famous bridge which almost everyone has already seen in pictures. You can go there, or by car which will lead you to the other side in Sausalito. Or you have the possibility to rent bikes and ride through the bridge.

Lombard Street

San Francisco is a city that was built on hills so if you drive through the town you will go up and down. But the Lombard Street is a bit different from every other streets, it zig zag. People can walk or drive down but you have to be careful because there is a lot of people that stop to take pictures. It's a famous place in SF.

Union Square

Union Square is a quarter of SF in which you can find many stores. If you need a place to go shopping it is there. You will also find a shopping center called “Westfield”.

Alamo Square

It’s a park where you can chill. In front of that park, you’ll find 5 twin houses which have different colors and that are famous in San Francisco, called “Painted Ladies”.

Alcatraz

Alcatraz is a little island which is part of SF and had years ago a prison on it. Today you can visit this prison and her history, also see how people that where in jail were living. To go there, you have to buy boat tickets that brings you directly on the island. But I advise you to buy tickets before going there because sometimes there’s no tickets available. I had the chance to book it during a beautiful sunny day. We had an amazing view from the city and the Golden Gate Bridge.
